The weekend is when the most action takes place at Launiupoko Beach Park. Countless families and friends gather, usually to celebrate a birthday. The BBQ aroma fills the air, bounce houses and water slides dot the grassy lawn, and keiki slash in the ocean.Music, food and having a great day outside is easy at this spacious beach park. Showers, restrooms and water fountains are available. Parking is plentiful, however sometimes impossible on the weekend. No lifegaurd.
The gentle and consistent waves makes Launiupoko one of the best longboard spots in West Maui. It’s very popular with standup paddle boarders as well.
The sandy beach is small, but gets tons of sunshine while the grassy picnic areas are refreshingly cool and shaded.
Families with small children enjoy a lagoon feature protected by a break wall.
Near mile marker 18, turn at Kai Hele Ku St., the first streetlight in West Maui on Highway 30 as you travel from central Maui.
