You can usually find old-time longboard surfers at Puamana Beach Park in Lahaina. No sandy beach is available to sunbathers and the rocky coast sometimes proves an interesting entrance for surfers. Yet, when a south swell rolls in, you’ll find plenty out at the break of dawn. And when it’s flat? Stand up paddle boarders glide steadily along.Large trees provide ample shade for the built-in grills and picnic tables. Remember to recycle in the receptacles provided.
Port-a-potties are available.
The beach park backs up to a gated community on the south end of Front Street and there’s no lifeguard on duty. Turning lanes don’t exist which makes it easy to miss the small parking entrance.
Puamana Beach Park is at the border of Lahaina town on Highway 30, near mile marker 19.
